Caudalie Travel Set
Now that I live thousands of miles across the country from my family, I have to travel a lot more… Which means, ugh, packing beauty products of which I own a million. How do I decide what to take and what to leave behind? (Don’t even talk to me about 3-1-1 rule. AS IF. I will check my bag from now until the end of time.) Caudalie Gentle Conditioning Shampoo–I love the scent of this product–it has notes of white rose, pink pepper and watermelon. It’s really fresh and bright. This shampoo is true to its name–it’s very gentle and contains nourishing grape-seed and jojoba oil, fortifying wheat proteins, and protecting sunflower oil.
Caudalie Fleur de Vigne Shower Gel–When I’m a rich lady, I my bath will be filled with Caudalie products. So delicious! This shower gel, is sodium laureth sulfate and soap-free. It has a wonderful, fresh melon scent melon, with notes of rose and pepper. It leaves my skin feeling clean but not dried out. Lovely.
Caudalie Nourishing Body Lotion–This lotion itself is topnotch! It’s packed with anti-oxidant grape-seed polyphenols, sesame and borage oils, microcirculation activating ginkgo biloba extract, and moisturizing plant glycerine and sodium hyaluronate. It immediately moisturizes my skin, and when I use it regularly, it gets rid of any dry spots.
Caudalie Cleansing Water–This product removes make-up and impurities from face and eyes, even on the most sensitive skin. You apply using a cotton pad on face and eyes to cleanse and tone the skin. It’s perfect as a make-up remover. No rinsing necessary, so it’s perfect for use on an airplane!

It suds up without a poof, which is super convenient for taking along to the gym. It also has a nice white calla scent and ‘diamond powder’ that leaves skin soft. To stay my ‘kissable best’ I’ve also been using NIVEA’s A Kiss of Moisture and A Kiss of Flavor Lip Care. Olay Body Quench Advanced Healing Body
I’m really impressed with how much the quality of drugstore body lotions have improved recently. I was thinking back to what they were like when I was in high school, and I am not going to name names, but they pretty much sucked. Or perhaps I should just say, they have gotten a lot better in recent years!
I’ve been trying out Olay Body Quench Advanced Healing Body Lotion and it’s awesome. It’s exactly the kind of lotion I love: non-greasy, fragrance free, and it absorbs immediately. It’s also specifically formulated to increase skin’s overall hydration with continued use, breaking the cycle of dry skin. It’s awesome for dry winter skin, which plagues everyone right about now. My dry skin is not as bad here in L.A., but I use to get such awful dry skin during the winter when I lived in the Midwest. Olay Body Quench Advanced Healing Body Lotion contains Vita-Niacin, which apparently lightens dark areas, like hyperpigmentation as well as Vitamin E. The rest of the lotion’s ingredients are great barriers for the skin in helping to retain moisture. It’s recommended that you apply Body Quench after showering or bathing, but I also love to apply it as a hand lotion. Price: 11.8 fl. oz. / $7.49

Coconut Oil for Your Hair?
I’m not super hippie dippie or anything, but I do love organic products (and cheap products!) So when I read about the benefits of organic coconut oil for your hair, of course I had to try it.
First of all, you have to get some high-end organic coconut oil. Make sure it says extra virgin, cold pressed and organic on the container. You can find it at Whole Foods or a similar store. (Barlean’s brand is about $15.00 for 16 oz.) Then you can use the coconut oil in a number of ways. It’s great as an intensive conditioning hair treatment–either overnight or while you’re just hanging around the house. Apply the oil to your dry hair focusing mainly on the shaft and the ends, and staying away from the roots completely. You don’t have to totally saturate your hair, but you do want it fairly covered. Then tie it up and out of the way while you sleep or go about your day. You can also just apply the coconut oil as a pre-wash treatment an hour or so before you shower, let it sit, and then wash your hair.
Some people also use coconut oil as a leave-in treatment on their hair, typically on dry scalp or ends. It can also be use as a moisturizer, although reviews are mixed about putting it on your face. Personally, I would stick to using it on my body only. But can try it out to remove stubborn eye makeup, lip balm, shaving cream, foot cream, cuticle and nail cream… So multipurpose!
And oh yeah! You can cook with it too.
