By now everyone has heard that it’s not good to wash your hair every day, but how do you deal with bedhead? Assuming this is not the look you’re going for, slept on hair is difficult to combat. But Living Proof has the perfect product to help you fight messy hair–No Frizz Restyling Spray.
Here’s the Deal: This new style reviver detangles hair, conditions, reduces static, provides hold, and adds shine. So instead of rewashing and styling, you can have refreshed hair in just a few minutes with a few sprays. It features the Living Proof patented PolyfluroEster molecule, which protects hair from style-wrecking humidity and water vapor and keeps frizzy hair at bay.
My Take: I am loving this stuff. It’s super lightweight and quick-drying, so you can mist your hair just enough to style it without weighing it down. It doesn’t contain any oils, starches or silicones so your hair doesn’t feel heavy or sticky. I spray this lightly on my hair until damp and comb through my waves with my fingers–kind of breaking them up and slightly scrunching. You can re-blow dry your hair at this point, but I just air dry and it turns out great. It smells terrific too. It’s a great hair refresher. No Frizz Restyling Spray is available exclusively at QVC.com. Price: $19.50 / 3.4 fl oz.

Now that I live thousands of miles across the country from my family, I have to travel a lot more… Which means, ugh, packing beauty products of which I own a million. How do I decide what to take and what to leave behind? (Don’t even talk to me about 3-1-1 rule. AS IF. I will check my bag from now until the end of time.) But still, it is convenient to have travel size containers, so I can bring more stuff.
Caudalie has this figured out with their Travel Set. It’s all of your favorite Caudalie products in travel sizes. It includes: 1 fl oz Cleansing Water, 1 fl oz Fleur de Vigne Shower Gel, 1 fl oz Gentle Conditioning Shampoo, 1 fl oz Nourishing Body Lotion, and a clear plastic travel bag all in a cute Caudalie tin case.
Caudalie Gentle Conditioning Shampoo–I love the scent of this product–it has notes of white rose, pink pepper and watermelon. It’s really fresh and bright. This shampoo is true to its name–it’s very gentle and contains nourishing grape-seed and jojoba oil, fortifying wheat proteins, and protecting sunflower oil.
Caudalie Fleur de Vigne Shower Gel–When I’m a rich lady, I my bath will be filled with Caudalie products. So delicious! This shower gel, is sodium laureth sulfate and soap-free. It has a wonderful, fresh melon scent melon, with notes of rose and pepper. It leaves my skin feeling clean but not dried out. Lovely.
Caudalie Nourishing Body Lotion–This lotion itself is topnotch! It’s packed with anti-oxidant grape-seed polyphenols, sesame and borage oils, microcirculation activating ginkgo biloba extract, and moisturizing plant glycerine and sodium hyaluronate. It immediately moisturizes my skin, and when I use it regularly, it gets rid of any dry spots.
Caudalie Cleansing Water–This product removes make-up and impurities from face and eyes, even on the most sensitive skin. You apply using a cotton pad on face and eyes to cleanse and tone the skin. It’s perfect as a make-up remover. No rinsing necessary, so it’s perfect for use on an airplane!
Thanks to Lock & Mane, I recently tried out Alterna’s Caviar Moisture Shampoo with Seasilk & Caviar Moisture Conditioner with Seasilk. These products are ideal for dry, brittle hair and help bring it back to a healthy, silky condition.
Here’s the Deal: These products are sulfate and paraben free, and contain Color Hold, which is perfect for those with color treated hair who want to avoid color fading and striping. The shampoo and conditioner also contain UVA/UVB protection, which shields hair from the sun’s harmful rays. Every Alterna product also contains enzymetherapy, a system that assists in the effectiveness of the delivery of enzymes. According to Alterna, enzymetherapy helps transform ingredients into a structure that the hair and follicle can absorb easily so thicker, stronger hair can surface.
My Take: My fine hair really loved this shampoo and conditioner. It left my hair shiny and soft, and not at all stripped–even before the conditioner. Also, it wasn’t so soft it was limp and flat, which is a problem I have with some products. As far as the price point, it’s definitely higher than drugstore products, but I believe that you get what you pay for with hair products to some extent. Plus, I only had to use a little dab of conditioner to treat my long hair, and I feel much better knowing I’m not dumping prardens and sulfates onto my hair. The smell is awesome–a light floral scent that lasts. In fact, on second day hair my BF commented on how good my hair smelled! The only issue I had was the packaging–it has kind of an odd twist top, which is unnecessarily complicated, especially when your hands are all wet and soapy. A flip top would have been much easier. Minor complaint, but still worth noting.
Available at lockandmane.com. Price for shampoo: $30.00 and for conditioner: $32.00.

Have you guys ever used TendSkin? It’s a skincare solution for men and women to treat razor bumps, ingrown hairs and razor burn. It’s also kinda expensive at $35 for 8 oz. But I make mine own at home–it’s really easy and super cheap. Here’s how:
Ingredients to Make TendSkin:
How To:
How To: Aspirin Mask
You can also use aspirin to make a skin clearing mask. (I’m doing it right now!) All you need plain, uncoated aspirin. Take about 5-8 aspirin and place them in a small bowl. Drip a small amount of filtered water on the aspirin and allow them to sit. The aspirin will get soft and mushy and then you can mix it with a binding agent. Typically, I mix mine with another mask, like a tiny bit of Origins Out of Trouble and then add a little more water if it is too thick and apply. You can also mix it with pure honey, which is a good binding agent and will be a bit more moisturizing. Aspirin is an acid, so you shouldn’t use it every day, but it’s safe to use every three days or so. But it depends on your skin–for me, once a week is good. The salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid, that’s in aspirin works to slough off dead skin. It will unclog and clear pores and reduce production of oil, too.
Have you guys tried at how TendSkin or the Aspirin Mask? Let me know what you think in the comments!
I recently reviewed Buxom Lash in Blue Noir and now I’m reviewing another product in the Buxom line–Buxom Balm! The Buxom Balms are all named after beach retreats, and I sampled Copacabana, a glowy nude shade.
The Balms also come in Bora Bora, a red cherry, Portofino, a plum wine, St. Barth, a lilac sheen and Waikiki, a bright berry pink. Buxom Balm is super emolient and hydrating. It’s suppose to give lips a boost of plumping action, but honestly I’ve never noticed any significant plumping from any lip plumping product. However, when you use a shiny gloss, your lips immediatly look fuller. So they work/they don’t work, you know? This balm is super glossy, shiny, and smells great. It’s moisturizing while also being lightweight, thanks to its unique gel formula. And Buxom Balms contain protective antioxidants, like vitamin C and E, hydrating rice bran, sweet alomond oil and shea butter. There’s a refershing minty tingle when you apply it to your lips, which has to do with the plumping action, but unlike other lip-plumping glosses, it doesn’t dry your lips out! Love it. And the nude shade of Copacabana is perfection. I’m so over berry shades right now, and I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect nude. This one is awesome. Sold exclusively at Sephora. Price: $15.00

Here is a weird thing to admit as a beauty blogger and an all-around makeup obsessed human being: Before a few weeks ago, I’d never used a single MAC makeup product. I know! How is that even possible? MAC is omnipresent in the beauty world and has the best of everything. I’ll get really real on you and admit that the MAC counter has always intimidated me. The MAC girls are so intensely fly. They’re kinda scary. But fear not. They just look intimidating because their makeup is flawless. But yours (and mine) can be too.
I recently tested out MAC’s new (limited edition) Blush Ombre in Azalea Blossom and Eyeshadow in Nanogold. And now I’m a MAC convert. MAC is the bomb.
First, let’s discuss MAC Blush Ombre. I’m obsessed with this blush. It’s so gorgeous. Even if you’re not in the market for a new blush, you should pop into a MAC store and take a peak at it because it’s so pretty. It features this beautiful wave of ombre color. The Azalea Blossom blends from a darker almost violet pink to a light cool pink. It’s milled ultra-fine and provides medium-buildable coverage. Over all, it’s a light cool pink color. Azalea Blossom is sold out online, but you might be able to get it in stores? I have a warm complexion, and wasn’t sure how the cool pink tone would look on me, but this color looks amazing on. I love wearing Azalea Blossom when I use Buxom Lash in Blue Noir. The combo of the blue-black lashes with the cool pink cheeks is out of this world.
The Blush Ombre color is very buildable, so you can swipe on a tiny bit if you want a light wash of color or more if you want a more intense shade. Also, the compact is a lot larger than other MAC blushes, which is nice.
Another good way to use this Ombre Blush is to apply the light pink shade to apples of your cheek, and then sparingly swipe the violet pink as a contour. Use a tapered cheek highlight brush. Price: $25.00
I also tried out my very first MAC Eyeshadow in Nanogold. It’s a lustrous sheer goldy beige with pink pearl. Nanogold is the perfect eyeshadow to use alone as an all over wash of color when you don’t feel like doing a whole eye makeup routine. It also works great as a brow bone or inner eye highlighter. I even used it as a cheek highlighter. It will be perfect to highlight a summer tan. (Someday.) Price: $14.00

I picked up this random perfume oil at Yolk, a cute little shop in my neighborhood of Silver Lake. It’s Leila Lou by Rosie Jane Cosmetics.
Leila Lou is made with 100% essential oils and smells so fresh and delicious. I actually put a little on while I was browsing the shop, left, and was forced to come back a few hours later because I just had to purchase the scent. It smells fantastic and I couldn’t live another day without owning it. It smells like springtime in a bottle and it doesn’t fade in two seconds like other essential oils I’ve used. Plus, Rosie Jane uses 100% recycled and recyclable materials and no box, so there is reduced waste and greenhouse gases.
An extra amazing feature: the Leila Lou ‘GIVE BACK’ program. Simply return three empty Leila Lou perfume bottles to the company, and they will send you your 4th bottle free! How cool is that? Go here for details. And for purchasing information, go here. Price: $38.00 / 0.17 fl oz
