Today is a good day for beauty product reviews! First the “Must Have” ghd IV styler and now my current favorite lip gloss: Sue Devitt Lip Gloss in Bermuda Triangle. This stuff is fantastic!
Here’s the Deal: Sue Devitt Gloss is a luxurious formulation that gives your lips a fuller look by smooth out the appearance of fine lines and includes Peptides to promote collagen production. It gives your lips a high-watt shine and a sheer wash of color for a healthy, hydrated look.
My Take: Everything is just right about this gloss. The little brush applicator is perfect, the cool minty tingle when you apply is addictive, and the mega-shine is gorgeous. I was afraid the color was going to be too frosty and sparkly when I looked at the tube, but in reality it’s a subtle milky pink. Very pale, though, almost like a clear gloss but with a touch of sheer color. There is something magical about this stuff, I swear. My lips just look awesome when I put it on; I’m totally addicted! It’s super shiny, glossy and gorgeous. I can’t get enough. Sue Devitt Lip Gloss also comes in Coral Sea, Telina and Trinity Beach. This stuff isn’t cheap, but it’s really nice quality and the tubes are not small. Plus, I am continually amazed by how much drugstore glosses are going for these day. I will definitely be re-purchasing this gloss when my sample runs out! Price: $22.00

I recently reviewed Buxom Lash in Blue Noir and now I’m reviewing another product in the Buxom line–Buxom Balm! The Buxom Balms are all named after beach retreats, and I sampled Copacabana, a glowy nude shade.
The Balms also come in Bora Bora, a red cherry, Portofino, a plum wine, St. Barth, a lilac sheen and Waikiki, a bright berry pink. Buxom Balm is super emolient and hydrating. It’s suppose to give lips a boost of plumping action, but honestly I’ve never noticed any significant plumping from any lip plumping product. However, when you use a shiny gloss, your lips immediatly look fuller. So they work/they don’t work, you know? This balm is super glossy, shiny, and smells great. It’s moisturizing while also being lightweight, thanks to its unique gel formula. And Buxom Balms contain protective antioxidants, like vitamin C and E, hydrating rice bran, sweet alomond oil and shea butter. There’s a refershing minty tingle when you apply it to your lips, which has to do with the plumping action, but unlike other lip-plumping glosses, it doesn’t dry your lips out! Love it. And the nude shade of Copacabana is perfection. I’m so over berry shades right now, and I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect nude. This one is awesome. Sold exclusively at Sephora. Price: $15.00

Deborah LaMia Denaver, Hollywood makeup artist, has teamed up with NIVEA, the official beauty partner of the upcoming all-star rom-com Valentine’s Day, to share her list of top beauty tips this Valentine’s Day. As the head makeup artist for the film, opening nationwide on February 12th, Deborah knows what it takes to look and feel your best.
“As a makeup artist working with Hollywood elite, I am constantly asked about my top beauty secrets for great looking and feeling skin,” she says. “My number one rule is to moisturize from head to toe to give you soft, smooth skin. When it comes to makeup, your skin is like a canvas and the foundation of any great look. The worst thing is to have that canvas be dry, cracked or not looking its best, especially when it comes to special events like a big date on Valentine’s Day. That’s when you want to be your touchable and kissable best!”
Speaking of ‘touchable best’, I recently got the chance to test out some new NIVEA’s products, including their hydrating NIVEA Touch of Sparkle Cream Oil Body Wash. It suds up without a poof, which is super convenient for taking along to the gym. It also has a nice white calla scent and ‘diamond powder’ that leaves skin soft. I didn’t notice much shimmer, but I really liked this stuff! It’s very moisturizing, lathers well, rinses clean, and smells great. Perfect! Suggested Retail Price: $6.49 / 16.9 oz
To stay my ‘kissable best’ I’ve also been using NIVEA’s A Kiss of Moisture and A Kiss of Flavor Lip Care. Enriched with natural beeswax and shea butter, these lippies range in flavors from cherry to passion fruit to pearly shimmer. They hydrate and offers long-lasting protection for soft, kissable lips. Best of all, they’re really nice, high-quality for a super low price. Suggested Retail Price: $2.99!
NIVEA has your gloss needs covered too. Enriched with natural shea butter and vitamin E, NIVEA’s Glossy Lip Care ranges from Natural to Pink to Red. They come in convenient and sanitary squeezable tubes and leave lips smooth with a sheer shine of glossy, moisturizing color. Love! Suggested Retail Price: $3.29

I’ve been using various Vapour Organic Beauty products for a while now. When I review makeup, sometimes I stick with it afterward and sometimes I don’t. Vapour is one of those produc lines that I’ve truly fallen in love with. When I was in Chicago over the holidays, Vapour Elixir Lip Gloss was the only gloss I brought with me. I usually have a million glosses with me, but I packed light in the gloss department this time!
Vapour Elixir in Hush was the perfect choice; it’s super moisturizing and provides a gorgeous shine and milky pink color. I love this gloss so much. Like all Vapour products, it’s non-chemical, which is a nice added plus. I wear it alone or over a lipstick, like Vapour’s Siren Lipstick, which I have in Ravish. Both colors are shown above. Price: Siren Lipstick is $19.00 and Elixir Lip Gloss is $20.00.
My ultimate beauty product recommendation? Smith’s Rosebud Salve. It’s a wonderful multi-purpose balm that soothes dry lips, calms and heals irritation, and works wonders on dry elbows, knees or winter noses. But aside from its moisturizing properties, Rosebud Salve is a great little makeup bag secret weapon. It adds a touch of gloss to your lids and cheeks, which is particularly wow-inducing during the dry, winter months. I’d read about this makeup trick before, but I recently tried it out and now I’m hooked.
Here’s How:
A few other tips: If you’re going to rock glossy lids, you want to make sure your skin is not oily, so use a good mattifying powder. I also define my brows, use Powderazzi on my cheeks, and then pat a tiny bit of Rosebud Salve on my cheeks, just to give my complexion a healthy glow. But overall, do not overdo it with the gloss or you will look craazy. Trust! A little practice makes perfect with this makeup application. When you get it right, it looks really cool.
For some reason, CoverGirl is a drugstore line I’m not super familiar with, but I recently got a chance to try out CoverGirl’s new ShineBlast Lip Gloss, and based on this product alone, I should definitely check out more of the line! This is the newest addition to CoverGirl’s “Blast” line. The gloss was developed by Pat McGrath, the famous British makeup artist who has been called the most influential makeup artist in the world by Vogue! Not bad, right?
The ShineBlast glosses are not highly pigmented, instead they leave your lips with a shiny, shear wash of color. The gloss isn’t sticky or thick, instead it’s more like a moisturizing balm, but the look is very glossy. It has majorly high shine thanks to the little luminescent droplets ofpearlized pigment in the gloss, which leaves a nice shimmer to your lips. But it’s not overpowering; these are definitely glosses that are perfect for day wear. The applicators are really nice too, kind of angled, wide and flat at the tip. You will see what I mean when you try them–much nicer than the typical sponge applicator.
And something that I really love about these–the scent is very girly and fruity. They reminded me of lip glosses I collected as a kid. Loved it! They come in 16 high-shine shades and will be available at mass-market retail stores nationwide beginning in January 2010. These are must haves! You’re totally going to want these in your purse, at your desk, in your car… Price: $8.49

It’s that time of year again. Long workdays turn into nights on the town with friends, holiday parties and an all-around packed social calendar. So what tips, tricks and beauty products do you need right now to help you out, no matter what’s on your schedule day or night? The make-up artists at CARGO Cosmetics have narrowed it down to five easy steps for women to look, feel and be fabulous this holiday season:
Step 1: Mattifier, Concealer, Powder
For a sheer, natural-looking base, use CARGO’s blu_ray High Definition Mattifier to refine pores, minimize lines and mattify in one simple step–while keeping your skin oil-free all day long.
Next, hide telltale evidence of late night parties with blu_ray Concealer. Under-eye circles and blemishes be gone! This miracle product, formulated with Visilox–a Botox alternative–brightens, tightens and lightens skin to keep you looking fresh under harsh office lights or the warm glow of the fireplace.
Finally, set your look with blu_ray Pressed Powder. Photochromatic pigments automatically color correct make-up, so that color always remains consistent and natural-looking. Ultra-fine particles fill in fine lines, while micronized light diffusers camouflage imperfections. The result: great coverage that looks completely natural. Smile for your close up!
Step 2: Get Your Glow On
Find out why CARGO’s Bronzers are famously loved by make-up artists and beauty editors alike. It’s easy to look sculpted and sexy all season long with a little help from these wonder products. For a sun-kissed glow, brush Bronzer above the brow bone, under the cheek bone and along the jaw line – tracing an ‘E’ and a ‘3’ on either side of your face. Next, apply Bronzer under the chin to create a shadow that slims the face – just in case you enjoyed too many sweet treats during last week’s festivities! Finally, add a pop of color to the apples of your cheeks with CARGO’s pro-artist favorite Blushes, for a sexy, cold-weather flush.

More people than ever are trying to eat healthy and organic and with this comes a clearer understanding that what you put on your skin affects your insides too. In recent research by Bionsen, a natural deodorant company, found that during the average woman’s daily grooming and make-up routine she “hosts” a staggering 515 different synthetic chemicals on her body every single day! Clearly, most of us would like to cut down on that number, but oftentimes organic beauty lines don’t deliver the same great quality and results that non-organic lines do… And who wants to choose between the two?
That’s where Vapor comes in. Vapour’s products are 100% natural and chemical free with a minimum of 70% certified organic ingredients. And Vapour products also work–they are high-performance cosmetic and skincare products that utilize an exciting new delivery system – not a powder, liquid or cream, but a unique formulation that imparts a light-as-air texture while providing skin treatment benefits and rich mineral color.
Vapour Aura Multi-Use Blush for Lips, Cheeks and Eyes: This is a creamy botanical blend of anti-inflammatory Frankincense, anti-oxidant Tulsi and moisturizing Lotus flowers. It’s a multi-use stick that contains pure mineral pigments for the perfect balance of color and care. Price: $28.00
