Today is a good day for beauty product reviews! First the “Must Have” ghd IV styler and now my current favorite lip gloss: Sue Devitt Lip Gloss in Bermuda Triangle. This stuff is fantastic!
Here’s the Deal: Sue Devitt Gloss is a luxurious formulation that gives your lips a fuller look by smooth out the appearance of fine lines and includes Peptides to promote collagen production. It gives your lips a high-watt shine and a sheer wash of color for a healthy, hydrated look.
My Take: Everything is just right about this gloss. The little brush applicator is perfect, the cool minty tingle when you apply is addictive, and the mega-shine is gorgeous. I was afraid the color was going to be too frosty and sparkly when I looked at the tube, but in reality it’s a subtle milky pink. Very pale, though, almost like a clear gloss but with a touch of sheer color. There is something magical about this stuff, I swear. My lips just look awesome when I put it on; I’m totally addicted! It’s super shiny, glossy and gorgeous. I can’t get enough. Sue Devitt Lip Gloss also comes in Coral Sea, Telina and Trinity Beach. This stuff isn’t cheap, but it’s really nice quality and the tubes are not small. Plus, I am continually amazed by how much drugstore glosses are going for these day. I will definitely be re-purchasing this gloss when my sample runs out! Price: $22.00
And just in time for Spring, check out my review of Sue Devitt Gold Coast Bronzing Powder!

I recently reviewed Buxom Lash in Blue Noir and now I’m reviewing another product in the Buxom line–Buxom Balm! The Buxom Balms are all named after beach retreats, and I sampled Copacabana, a glowy nude shade.
The Balms also come in Bora Bora, a red cherry, Portofino, a plum wine, St. Barth, a lilac sheen and Waikiki, a bright berry pink. Buxom Balm is super emolient and hydrating. It’s suppose to give lips a boost of plumping action, but honestly I’ve never noticed any significant plumping from any lip plumping product. However, when you use a shiny gloss, your lips immediatly look fuller. So they work/they don’t work, you know? This balm is super glossy, shiny, and smells great. It’s moisturizing while also being lightweight, thanks to its unique gel formula. And Buxom Balms contain protective antioxidants, like vitamin C and E, hydrating rice bran, sweet alomond oil and shea butter. There’s a refershing minty tingle when you apply it to your lips, which has to do with the plumping action, but unlike other lip-plumping glosses, it doesn’t dry your lips out! Love it. And the nude shade of Copacabana is perfection. I’m so over berry shades right now, and I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect nude. This one is awesome. Sold exclusively at Sephora. Price: $15.00

Here is a weird thing to admit as a beauty blogger and an all-around makeup obsessed human being: Before a few weeks ago, I’d never used a single MAC makeup product. I know! How is that even possible? MAC is omnipresent in the beauty world and has the best of everything. I’ll get really real on you and admit that the MAC counter has always intimidated me. The MAC girls are so intensely fly. They’re kinda scary. But fear not. They just look intimidating because their makeup is flawless. But yours (and mine) can be too.
I recently tested out MAC’s new (limited edition) Blush Ombre in Azalea Blossom and Eyeshadow in Nanogold. And now I’m a MAC convert. MAC is the bomb.
First, let’s discuss MAC Blush Ombre. I’m obsessed with this blush. It’s so gorgeous. Even if you’re not in the market for a new blush, you should pop into a MAC store and take a peak at it because it’s so pretty. It features this beautiful wave of ombre color. The Azalea Blossom blends from a darker almost violet pink to a light cool pink. It’s milled ultra-fine and provides medium-buildable coverage. Over all, it’s a light cool pink color. Azalea Blossom is sold out online, but you might be able to get it in stores? I have a warm complexion, and wasn’t sure how the cool pink tone would look on me, but this color looks amazing on. I love wearing Azalea Blossom when I use Buxom Lash in Blue Noir. The combo of the blue-black lashes with the cool pink cheeks is out of this world.
The Blush Ombre color is very buildable, so you can swipe on a tiny bit if you want a light wash of color or more if you want a more intense shade. Also, the compact is a lot larger than other MAC blushes, which is nice.
Another good way to use this Ombre Blush is to apply the light pink shade to apples of your cheek, and then sparingly swipe the violet pink as a contour. Use a tapered cheek highlight brush. Price: $25.00
I also tried out my very first MAC Eyeshadow in Nanogold. It’s a lustrous sheer goldy beige with pink pearl. Nanogold is the perfect eyeshadow to use alone as an all over wash of color when you don’t feel like doing a whole eye makeup routine. It also works great as a brow bone or inner eye highlighter. I even used it as a cheek highlighter. It will be perfect to highlight a summer tan. (Someday.) Price: $14.00

New York Fashion Week is underway! Check out the face chart created by Wendy Rowe for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics at today’s Yigal Azrouel Fall/Winter 2010 show.
The makeup was inspired by the collection’s rich textures. Chic, yet effortless, skin is bronzed with emphasis on cheeks, and eyes are softly defined in beige and brown tones. Nude lips complete a fairly monotone, natural look, with the exception of a strong, linear, defined brow. “Youthful, fresh but chic makeup with heavy focus on brows,” says Wendy Rowe for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.
Here is what they used:
Skin: Hydrating Face Cream ($50), Hydrating Eye Cream ($45), Foundation Stick ($40), Creamy Concealer ($22), Corrector ($22)
Eyes: Suede Long-Wear Cream Shadow ($22) all over lid, Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Sepia Ink ($21) applied lightly and smudged on upper and lower lashline.
Cheeks: Bronzing Powder ($40)
Lips: Hot Cocoa and Salmon Lip Color ($22 each)
Brows: Clean and brushed up with a touch of Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Sepia Ink ($21)
Note: some of the products are slated for Fall/Winter ‘10.
As previously discussed on Beauty Girl Reviews, I am eyebrow obsessed. I’ve used eyebrow pencils and shadow with a brush to fill in my brows, but I have never used a wax-based product before. Until now…
I’ve been using Brow Diva’s Brow Base–a wax-based product that can be used alone or with a brow powder for a more intense color. You apply it with an angle brush, filling in any sparse areas and then blending the color with the spooly side of the brush. I tried Brow Base in “Rita”, which is a soft red. The color is actually a bit too red for me, but it would be so perfect for true redheads. (And I know it’s tricky to get the right makeup for natural redheads, seriously.) I think I’d like to try the color “Jane” next, which is a light warm brown. Rita just had a little too much red in it for me, but I LOVED the product itself. The stickiness of the wax helps hold brows in place as it shades, something a plain powder cannot do. That’s what I like about brow gels or mascaras–the holding powder–but I like the natural coverage and control of a shadow. Brow Base is the perfect combination! Even though the color of “Rita” is slightly off for me, I love the product so much I’ve been using it anyway to set my brows, and then using a brown powder over it. Brow Base comes in six colors all together. Besides Jane and Rita, Brow Base comes in Katharine, a medium warm brown, Sophia, a medium cool brown, Jean, a light cool brown, and Lena, a soft black. Suggested Retail Price: $25.00
I highly recommend getting the Duo Brush to go along with the Brow Base, or picking up a similar brush. This is a great dual purpose brush that has a angled end for applying your brow powder or base and a spooly side for blending. ALWAYS blend after applying product to your brows. It’s the golden brow rule. It’s also helpful for holding brows in place when trimming. Suggested Retail Price: $19.00
I also tried out Brow Diva’s Brow Powder, which can also be used alone or with the Brow Base. Again, I tried this in Rita, which was a bit too red for me, but the powder overall was nice. However, I’m just way into the whole wax-based brow product right now, so it was hard to get me interested in anything else! Brow Powder comes in six shades, the same as the Brow Base. Suggested Retail Price: $25.00

Deborah LaMia Denaver, Hollywood makeup artist, has teamed up with NIVEA, the official beauty partner of the upcoming all-star rom-com Valentine’s Day, to share her list of top beauty tips this Valentine’s Day. As the head makeup artist for the film, opening nationwide on February 12th, Deborah knows what it takes to look and feel your best.
“As a makeup artist working with Hollywood elite, I am constantly asked about my top beauty secrets for great looking and feeling skin,” she says. “My number one rule is to moisturize from head to toe to give you soft, smooth skin. When it comes to makeup, your skin is like a canvas and the foundation of any great look. The worst thing is to have that canvas be dry, cracked or not looking its best, especially when it comes to special events like a big date on Valentine’s Day. That’s when you want to be your touchable and kissable best!”
Speaking of ‘touchable best’, I recently got the chance to test out some new NIVEA’s products, including their hydrating NIVEA Touch of Sparkle Cream Oil Body Wash. It suds up without a poof, which is super convenient for taking along to the gym. It also has a nice white calla scent and ‘diamond powder’ that leaves skin soft. I didn’t notice much shimmer, but I really liked this stuff! It’s very moisturizing, lathers well, rinses clean, and smells great. Perfect! Suggested Retail Price: $6.49 / 16.9 oz
To stay my ‘kissable best’ I’ve also been using NIVEA’s A Kiss of Moisture and A Kiss of Flavor Lip Care. Enriched with natural beeswax and shea butter, these lippies range in flavors from cherry to passion fruit to pearly shimmer. They hydrate and offers long-lasting protection for soft, kissable lips. Best of all, they’re really nice, high-quality for a super low price. Suggested Retail Price: $2.99!
NIVEA has your gloss needs covered too. Enriched with natural shea butter and vitamin E, NIVEA’s Glossy Lip Care ranges from Natural to Pink to Red. They come in convenient and sanitary squeezable tubes and leave lips smooth with a sheer shine of glossy, moisturizing color. Love! Suggested Retail Price: $3.29
After the break, Deborah LaMia Denaver gives her top makeup tips for how to turn up the romance on Valentine’s Day! Continue Reading…
