It’s raining flat irons around here! I have another flat iron giveaway to announce. Courtesy of Misikko, I’m giving away a Hana Elite. It’s a 100% ceramic iron, which offers the highest level of hair damage protection. It will never peel or chip to expose hair to damaging metal, and infuses tourmaline into the heating elements for maximum thermal protection. The Hana Elite also has an adjustable temperature dial with five settings from 140-450°, which is great for all hair types. The beveled edges allow you to easily curl, flip or straighten your hair. By now everyone has heard that it’s not good to wash your hair every day, but how do you deal with bedhead? Assuming this is not the look you’re going for, slept on hair is difficult to combat. But Living Proof has the perfect product to help you fight messy hair–No Frizz Restyling Spray.
Here’s the Deal: This new style reviver detangles hair, conditions, reduces static, provides hold, and adds shine. So instead of rewashing and styling, you can have refreshed hair in just a few minutes with a few sprays. It features the Living Proof patented PolyfluroEster molecule, which protects hair from style-wrecking humidity and water vapor and keeps frizzy hair at bay.
My Take: I am loving this stuff. It’s super lightweight and quick-drying, so you can mist your hair just enough to style it without weighing it down. It doesn’t contain any oils, starches or silicones so your hair doesn’t feel heavy or sticky. I spray this lightly on my hair until damp and comb through my waves with my fingers–kind of breaking them up and slightly scrunching. You can re-blow dry your hair at this point, but I just air dry and it turns out great. It smells terrific too. It’s a great hair refresher. No Frizz Restyling Spray is available exclusively at QVC.com. Price: $19.50 / 3.4 fl oz.

I am a big proponent of Phyto Phytophanere Dietary Supplement For Hair & Nails. It’s a great product for growing hair and nails thicker and longer. That said, I’ve had only moderate success with Phyto’s hair products.
Phytovolume Actif Maximizing Volume Spray kind of freaked me out because it smells so harsh and contains alcohol denat as the first ingredient. However, I found it pretty decent. It does its job as a volumizer, but might not be a product you use daily, since alcohol denat can dry out your hair. On the upside, it’s formulated without parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes and petrochemicals, which is great! This spray thickens the diameter of each hair and helps to hold gravity-defying styles all day long, like a sexy chignon for your Valentine’s Day date, maybe?
I recommend using Phytovolume Actif when you’re going to blow dry your hair, because it’s heat activated. Spray generously onto damp hair, focusing on the roots. Price: $28.00

Do you guys do something special on Valentine’s Day? For those of you who get all fancy, I bet you want big, sexy hair. The best way to achieve this is with a volumizing product, like the new TIGI Catwalk Your Highness Volume Collection. This line contains six new products designed to give your hair lift and volume. Each product also has a lovely scent, like Sandalwood Vanilla Cashmere. Yum. Plus, studies show that men associate the scent of vanilla with love. True story!
I recently tried out TIGI Catwalk Your Highness Root Boost Spray. I was excited to test this product because I’d heard a lot of good things about it, and I’m always looking for a little more volume. I have to say, though, that Root Boost left my hair with a little sticky residue and left my hair a little dull looking the first time I tried it out. I did a little reseach and realized I used a bit too much product for my fine-ish hair. I used less the next time around and got a great volumizing affect without the stickiness. Price: $14.95
The other TIGI Catwalk Your Highness product I tested was the Weightless Shine Spray. I love a good shine spray and this one delivered! It’s a perfect finishing touch after a blow out. It elimites frizz and leaves a nice healthy shine. Price: $19.95

To use, just spray onto damp hair and style as normal. The mica shine technology, keratin proteins and caviar conditioners will revitalize dry, dull hair and protect it from environmental factors including pollution, heat and water damage. Price: $30.00
Living Proof, the company that brought you No Frizz, the first new anti-frizz solution in over 30 years, has another exciting hair product launch–Full Thickening Cream.
Living Proof products are the only hair products I have even heard of that are based on technology from research laboratories of MIT professors. (I appreciate people who take hair as seriously as I do.) Living Proof’s team of scientists came up with a new material: Poly Beta Amino Ester-1. I know, what? The science isn’t as important as what it does to your hair. Their latest advancement gives thin, limp hair a natural fullness, but unlike with typical volumizers your hair isn’t left stiff or brittle.
According to Living Proof, the beauty industry has traditionally tried to add the appearance of volume by puffing up flat hair with various sprays or holding the hair into specific positions with various brittle, polymers. But these solutions only last a few hours and deflate the minute they’re faced with wind or humidity.
To really address the problem of limp hair, Living Proof created a brand new polymer that’s both flexible and durable. Poly Beta Amino Ester-1 mimics the look and feeling of thicker hair by depositing a completely flexible and indestructible pattern of thickening points that can’t break or flake off. According to Living Proof, when they used the new product on test subjects’ hair, they felt like they had more hair, with a natural fullness, not stiff, but flowing and touchable.
How to use Full Thickening Cream: I started with clean, damp, combed out hair. Put a nickel sized amount of the cream in my palm for my past my shoulders hair. (You can use less for short hair, more for super long hair.) I spread the cream between your palms and apply it starting below my roots, working down the ends, and then used a wide-toothed comb to disperse evenly. I used a hair dryer to blowout my hair like normal. Using a round brush at the end. I got a great blowout with this product!
