Leila Lou

Leila-Lou-essential-oil

I picked up this random perfume oil at Yolk, a cute little shop in my neighborhood of Silver Lake. It’s Leila Lou by Rosie Jane Cosmetics.

Leila Lou is made with 100% essential oils and smells so fresh and delicious. I actually put a little on while I was browsing the shop, left, and was forced to come back a few hours later because I just had to purchase the scent. It smells fantastic and I couldn’t live another day without owning it. It smells like springtime in a bottle and it doesn’t fade in two seconds like other essential oils I’ve used. Plus, Rosie Jane uses 100% recycled and recyclable materials and no box, so there is reduced waste and greenhouse gases.

An extra amazing feature: the Leila Lou ‘GIVE BACK’ program. Simply return three empty Leila Lou perfume bottles to the company, and they will send you your 4th bottle free! How cool is that? Go here for details. And for purchasing information, go here. Price: $38.00 / 0.17 fl oz

Caron Aimez-Moi & Pour Un Homme

Aimez-Moi-Caron

I’ve never smelled any Caron perfumes before, but I am seriously sick of every perfume I currently own. I got a little sample of Caron’s Aimez-Moi, which means “Love Me”. (Aw.) The scent blends violet with anise and bergamot, and notes of amber, musk, and wood. Even with those woodsy scents, it’s not too heavy. Aimez-Moi manages to be delicate and warm. It smells sexy and it smells expensive, which made me feel good when I put it on while blogging in leggings and a t-shirt. Price: 50ml EDT Spray: $85.00

Caron-Pour-Un-Homme

Caron’s Pour Un Homme (”For a Man”) was the first Caron fragrance created for men, and remains a best-seller. The top note is lavendar, followed by vanilla, musk, and amber. It’s a refreshing scent that works for a woman, as well as a man. I loved both of these! Will I pull the trigger and purchase one as my new fragrance? Hmm…  Price: 75ml EDT Spray: $60.00

Caron Fragrances are available at Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel, select Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue stores and www.beauty360.com.

You Give Me Fever

Check out the full-length commercial for Beyoncé Heat–the first fragrance by Beyoncé. I am curious to smell this. The commercial is hot. Not surprisingly.

Lanvin Jeanne La Rose

jeanne-lanvin-la-rose-fragance

Lanvin has recently announced the release of an update of its Jeanne fragrance, the label’s creative director Alber Elbaz’s hommage to founder Jeanne Lanvin. The limited-edition Jeanne La Rose will be “more romantic” and “more couture” than its predecessor, according to the brand. Rose essence is a universal ingredient in perfumery, and rose scent-dominated fragrances have always been popular. In Lanvin’s case, the flower will be paired with rasperry and redcurrant, white musk, vetiver, and cedar wood. Sounds delicious! The fragrance, created by Olivier Pescheux (Givaudan) will become available in March.

Casa di Francesca Wild Strawberry Diffuser

409865I’m a big for of Casa di Francesca Diffusers. I recently tried out the Wild Strawberry Diffuser Set. It includes:

  • 6.7 oz. Wild Strawberry fragrance
  • Italian glass diffuser bottle, accented with a red ribbon and silver bead at the neck
  • 10 Wooden reed diffuser sticks

As usual, this is a lovely set and it smells delicious. I keep it in the bedroom and it easily keeps the whole room smelling sweet. I mentioned this in my other review, but it really helps to turn over your diffuser sticks every three days or so to keep the fragrance fresh. The strawberry scent is slightly sweeter than the Pink Grapefruit scent. The Wild Strawberry sort of reminds me of strawberry jam. Yum! Like all  Casa di Francesca scents I’ve sampled, it’s really authentic, not like the chemically smells you would find in airfresheners or other room fragrances.

Casa di Francesca home fragrance collection is available at casadifrancesca.com or at HSN.com. Price: $24.50.

Casa di Francesca Murano Pink Diffuser Set

Casa-di-Francesca-Sicilian-Pink-Grapefruit-Murano-Pink-Diffuser

I love to have a good smelling home, but room air fresheners typically smell fake, overly harsh, or just quit working after a few days. But Casa di Francesca’s home fragrances smell delicious and seriously last. I recently got the chance to try their Sicilian Pink Grapefruit Murano Pink Diffuser Set, which comes in a very pretty, hand blown, pink Murano glass vase. This is not a Glade air freshener, people! This diffuser is super gorgeous. In fact, it went right on my new coffee table. This set would make a great gift, and while it is on the pricey side, the hand blown glass vases are quite lovely and seem to be the reason for the higher price point.

The pink grapefruit scent is really fresh, clean and bright. It fills the room, but it’s not overpowering. One important tip when using diffusers: It’s important to flip the sticks over every three days or so, or else they will dry out and not smell as strong. I just started doing this recently, and it makes a big difference!

The Murano Pink Diffuser Set comes with:

  • Glass vase measures approximately 3″H, and 2.5″W
  • Contains 3.3 fl ozs. of Sicilian Pink Grapefruit Diffuser scent
  • Bundle of 10 diffuser sticks
  • Available in Pink, Dark Green & Multi Colored

Casa di Francesca home fragrance collection is available at casadifrancesca.com or at HSN.com. Price: $79.95.

YSL Parisienne

Kate-Moss-YSL-Parisienne

Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium was a super popular perfume back when I was in high school, but it was more for grown women. No one my age wore it. We all wore Happy by Clinique. Seriously, like eeeeeveryone. It was the cult of Happy.

YSL’s new perfume, Parisienne seems to be a fragrance created for older women, as well. The minute I smelled it, I thought: old lady perfume. But I do love the Kate Moss ad campaign!

The company was kind enough to hook me up with an editorial sample so I could review the perfume more thoroughly. I found Parisienne’s top notes to be an intense, heavy blend of cranberry and blackberry. The middle notes are floral–Damas rose. I found this combo too candy sweet for my taste, even with the heavy base note of sandalwood and patchouli. I actually like woodsy scents, but at first I was not crazy about this scent. I gave it a chance though, I have kind of grown to like it more than I did at first. I use one light spritz during the day, and I find that it wears nicely on me. Sometimes top notes on perfumes are enough to drive me away, but if I give them a chance I wind up liking them…However, based on reviews, I know a lot of people aren’t loving this perfume. Have you guys tried it? If so, what do you think? Price: 1.0 oz. / $39.00

Candle Delirium

Delirium-blue-royal-amber-candle

Candle Delirium is Los Angeles’ hottest candle boutique and top destination for luxury scented candles. It has everything a candle lover could possibly need–the store carries over 35 lines of the world’s finest candles and candle accessories, including Mariage Freres, Dayna Decker, Tocca, Delirium & Company, Herve Gambs, and many more.

I recently tried out Delirium & Co. Royal Amber candle. It’s an intense mixture of pine needles, black pepper, eucalyptus, sandalwood, musk and myrrh. I’m a big fan of scents that aren’t weak or coying, so this candle was for me. The fragrance is fantastic–a warm amber scent that’s not too overpowering, but still fills my large living room nicely. It will burn for 55+ hours and is encased in a translucent, reflective midnight blue glass. Also, it’s a soy blend wax, so it burns cleanly and emits less soot. Soy candles last longer than other candles, are naturally more fragrant, earth friendly, made in America, and are a renewable resource. It’s good to buy soy candles whenever possible, and Candle Delirium has a huge selection.

When you’re in LA, you have to check out Candle Delirium’s 1,700 sq ft flagship store located at 7980 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. If you live elsewhere, shop online!
